Lahainaluna High School Swim Team 2022

On January 22, 2022, during the Maui Interscholastic League high school competition, Maison Alexander broke the Lahainaluna high school record in the Men's 100 yard Butterfly event. The previous record was set in 2006 by Jack Pope, who was also a Lahaina Swim Club swimmer at the time. Maison Alexander’s time was 54.60 seconds, putting him in first place in the event.

Coach Tom reached out to Jack Pope to let him know about the Lahainaluna High School new record set by Maison. Jack congratulated both Maison and Coach Tom, “I’m happy to see the legacy of excellence that Lahainaluna and Lahaina Swim Club is known for, being carried on by the younger generation! It makes me proud to say I am a pupil of Coach Tom’s tutelage and I can’t wait to see what Maison and the rest of the up and comers have in store for us. It should be exciting!”

Maison has been swimming with our club since he was 5 years old, starting with Coach Jen and continuing with Coach Tom. He has participated in 7 State’s Competitions, bringing home multiple top place finishes. We wish Maison and all our 19 State qualifiers best of luck in the upcoming State of Hawaii Age Group championships that will take place on the Big Island at the end of February 2022!
