Lahaina Swim Club at Sakamoto Invitational Meet

Lahaina Swim Club participated in the 46th Annual Sakamoto Invitational Meet held in honor of the legendary American swimming coach Soichi Sakamoto. The event took place at the Coach Sakamoto Pool in Wailuku on May 28th and 29th.

Lahaina had a great showing at this challenging two day meet. With 9 teams from Maui, Oahu, and Kuaui competing, Lahaina Swim Club showed outstanding results, taking the first place overall in team points.

Our team had multiple individual champions - Emily Gorokhovsky in girls 11-12 division, Sacha Salem in girls 13-14 division, Noah Richard in boys open division, Noah Caiserman in boys 13-14 division, and Maison Alexander in boys 15-18 division. Additionally, Noah Caiserman was tied for the highest overall individual points.

After the official events, the athletes took part in a fun Pineapple relay with teams of 8 swimmers - 4 boys and 4 girls in each team. With two all Lahaina teams competing along with other teams, the team consisting of Kaina Yamada, Eli Hazlet, Jacob Gorokhovsky, Tristan Richard, Jersea Borneman, Mia Lee, Jessie Young, and Alicia Wintermeyer took the first place, taking home the gold medals and pineapples!
