Lahaina Swimmers Thrived at Hawaiian Swimming Championship in Oahu
February 24, 2023
The Lahaina Swim Club (LSC) participated in the Hawaiian Swimming Short Course Age Group Championship, held at K. Mark Takai Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Waipahu on Oahu February 16-19, where they showcased their skills and determination in the pool. The team’s performance was outstanding, especially given the team’s relatively small size, finishing fifth overall among 21 teams from all over Hawaii. The team’s young swimmers demonstrated their strength, speed, and technique, and several of them were able to achieve remarkable results.
One of the standout performers for LSC was Cruz Storer, who dominated in the pool with 7 first-place and one second-place finals finishes in the boys 11-12 age group events. Cruz’s technique and speed in the water were impressive.
Another star performer for the team was Sacha Salem, who received most points in the 13-14 girls age group and finished first in all 7 of her individual event finals. Sacha excelled in all of her races and earned valuable points for the team.
The Lahaina Swim Club’s successful showing in the Hawaiian Swimming Championship was also due to the strong performances of the other swimmers and relay teams. Multiple swimmers finished in the top three of their races. Additionally, the relay teams showcased their teamwork and coordination, finishing in the top three in several highly competetive races.
Overall, LSC’s performance at the Hawaiian Swimming Championship was a testament to the club’s dedication to developing young swimmers and helping them achieve their potential. We congratulate the athletes on the strong performances in individual races and relay events and look forward to seeing their continued success in the future. A huge thanks to the coaching staff and parent volunteers whose combined efforts have made the club’s success possible.
